Trauma & Complex PTSD

Reclaiming Your Core Self

You might find yourself exhausted by an intense, constant need for protection and defense, drained by narratives that try to dictate who you are. The shadows of past experiences—both large and small—often linger, influencing how you feel and react to the world today.

Trauma is not just about isolated, catastrophic events (Big 'T' Traumas) like abuse or tragic accidents. For many, the profound wounds come from subversive, chronic stressors (little 't' traumas): maladaptive religious messaging, cultural ideologies, pervasive prejudice, or growing up in a system that lacked emotional or relational health. These experiences teach us harmful lessons.

The Challenge: The Body and Brain Keep the Score

The primary challenge is that these pervasive external messages become parasitic narratives—small, toxic beliefs that attach themselves to your psyche, silently draining your energy. Crucially, your body keeps the score of the trauma. Your nervous system—which doesn't understand that the past is over—gets stuck in a defensive posture, leading to chronic feelings of hypervigilance, emotional overwhelm, and disconnection even when you are physically safe.

Our Path Forward: Somatic Integration and Healing

In our work, we focus on helping you identify and dissolve these parasitic narratives so you can reclaim your core self. We utilize an integrated approach to restore safety and empower your resilience:

  • Understanding the Wounds: We gently distinguish between the trauma that occurred and the coping mechanisms that protected you, but which now hold you back.

  • Restoring Safety (Somatic Work): We teach practical grounding and somatic skills—tools that directly regulate the body’s 'fight-or-flight' response. This work allows your nervous system to move from chronic defense into a state of present-moment safety and regulation.

  • Dissolving and Healing Negative Narratives: We get to know the "wounded parts" of yourself, helping you gently rewrite the story and separate your identity from the trauma that no longer serves you.

  • The Beauty of the Mend: We view healing through the lens of Kintsugi—the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold. Your life is not ruined by the damage; the places where you mend and integrate your experience become the strongest and most beautiful parts of your identity.

Together, we transform the energy consumed by past trauma into the resilience and strength needed to navigate a truly peaceful path forward.
