About me and What to Expect

Revealing the Path Forward
Welcome. Aletheia Counseling (rooted in the Greek word for "revealing") is dedicated to helping reveal the path forward when life feels obscured by complexity or pain.
Many individuals arrive grappling with the intricate intersection of sexual orientation and religious experiences. Whether navigating a faith transformation that feels isolating, or managing anxiety, persistent sadness, trauma, or grief, I understand this path deeply—not just professionally, but through lived experience. Please know: these burdens are not meant to be carried alone.

A Compassionate & Integrated Approach
Our work together is built on warmth and a deep commitment to your growth. The goal is to cultivate happiness, resilience, self-awareness, and confidence, grounded in the belief that the world benefits from strong and joyful people.

At the core of every person lies a wise, powerful, passionate, curious, and creative self that yearns to thrive. While goal-setting and guidance are part of the process, our primary focus is helping you rediscover and trust this internal wisdom, which ultimately knows what is best and right for you.
For those who feel they have "thought and felt these things a million times" and still feel stuck, our work provides the necessary scaffolding—using clinical skills and expertise—to support you until deep self-reliance and trust are restored.
We will take a highly integrated and holistic approach, recognizing that mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being are inseparable from physical health. Together, we will focus on harmonizing all parts of the self using research-backed modalities:
-
Internal Family Systems (IFS): To facilitate listening to the self, understanding the many parts of the personality, and accessing inner goodness and wisdom.
-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): To build psychological flexibility by learning to accept what cannot be changed, clarifying values, and taking action toward a meaningful life.
-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): To co-create practical solutions by identifying and modifying thought patterns and behaviors that hinder progress.

Beyond Talk: Guidance and Growth
Our work goes beyond talking and rewriting old narratives. By providing practical feedback, teaching diverse skills, and co-creating new ways of living, we aim to implement practical change. Space is held to guide these goals, helping to uncover better ways of living, tune into the inner voice, and ultimately build self-trust and confidence.
Honesty is a cornerstone of this relationship. Sometimes this requires kindly providing constructive feedback on difficult topics. This is always done from a place of positive regard, with instruction on how to use that feedback for constructive growth and edification.
